Today families and friends of Jeff Schoenberg gathered at Columbkille Catholic Church in Fort Myers, Florida to bid our brother goodbye. Jeff was a Vietnam Veteran who served in country with the 101st Airborne Division during 1968. He witnessed one of the bloodiest years of the war and came home to an anxious family. Several of the veterans gathered there to bid our friend goodbye shared that piece of Godforsaken real estate with Jeff.
Jeff died doing what he loved most, riding with his fellow veterans on his Harley in support of a noble cause. He was riding with Rolling Thunder and the Special Forces Motorcycle Club to benefit the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. His life was cut short when a truck plowed into him as he rode on that benefit run.
Many members of the motorcycle community were there to honor and pay their respects to Jeff and his family. Among them were Rolling Thunder, Special Forces Motorcycle Club, Leathernecks Motorcycle Club, Florida Patriot Guard, National Patriot Guard Riders, the Enforcers Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, the Defenders Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and representatives of the American Legion Riders Post 104, Pinellas Park, Florida and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6827, Sunshine City.
Jeff's family is in our prayers. We wish the Creator to comfort them during this time of loss.
It was an honor sharing the asphalt with Jeff. He will be sorely missed in the veteran and biker community. Rest in Peace, brother.
